I just had to re-create that skirt. How could I not?!
I didn't have a pattern to go from so I just made it up as I went along. I sewed the A-line panels together to make a mahusive skirt then worked on pinning 2 inch pleats around the whole skirt.
I popped in a zip then sewed through the pleats twice with about 1cm between. I then trimmed the top to about 2cm from the top band and sewed the edge to make it nice and neat. Then I cut a waistband out from the spare fabric and folded it over the edge of the skirt and sewed it on.
I wore the skirt today and was thoroughly chuffed. I've not sewn myself an item of clothing from scratch for ages and it has totally got me in the mood for more!

Wow- looks great. I wouldn't have known wear to start with those darts. You looki very purdy in it x

ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL skirt!
MoP- Thanks! It was a bit of trial and error at first but the circumference unpleated was roughly twice that of my waist so I tried 2 inch pleats and it seemed to work out.
