It's the little things that make me happy...
...like for example getting my favourite hair style right first time.
Totally henna-ed my hair last night and am super pleased with the result. Normally I'm a straight up Lush Caca Marron kind of gal but this time I used two squares of the flame-like Rouge and one square safe and steady Marron. It's made me feel very circa 2006 when I used to be a tad braver with my hair colour. So much so I even left the house wearing a neckerchief this morning...! I like it when little things make me feel like 'me.'
The husband surprised me at the weekend by leaning over and really smelling my hair, in an adorable mid-embrace movie kind of way. I was putty in his hands when he told me my hair smelt amazing. Oh the romance! It only occurred to me later whilst wondering why I smelt of camping that it was because of the bonfire we'd had in the daytime. Now if I could only find a shampoo that smelt of wood burning fires that would make the husband a happy man!

So pretty! I think I'm going to switch to henna as my hair is so dry and yucky from the horrid dyes i put on it. I didn't realise you could buy it in Lush! x
ReplyDeleteWow that was a quick comment, just finished editing the post to add a link to Lush online. Henna is a right faff but it really does make your hair feel silky and nourished (sound like Davina on that hair dye ad!) When I got my hair cut last week the hairdresser even said to me, without me telling him about the henna, that my hair had a lovely shine to it. Which makes me very happy! Do it!!
ReplyDeleteI know just what you mean about those little things that make you feel like 'you' and it made me realise reading this that I don't feel that very often now - have become very functional.
ReplyDeleteI love henna - used Lush rouge a couple of times and had very BRIGHT red hair. and it does make it feel so shiny and healthy. I think I have some leftover hiding away in the bathroom somewhere, maybe I should get it out...
oh and I love the hairstyle!
Totally gorgeous! You have inspired me. I haven't hennaed since I was a teenager, but could do with a bit of colour to hide those perky greys. Lush (such an appropriate name!) here I come...
ReplyDeleteOh, and love the 'up do' too! Laura x
Fay that is utterly gorgeous! You have 50s film star hair!
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me P probably thinks your hair smells amazing all the time anyway!
Hi Fay,
ReplyDeleteI love your hair, it looks gorgeous, wish I had hair like that!
I know a shampoo which smells like you describe it, but as far as I know, it is only sold in Finland! It is 'tervashampoo' by a finnish brand called "erittäin hieno suomalainen shampoo" :D
It is one of my favorite products I bring back home with me from holidaying in Finland.
bye, Kristina
That looks amazing - you look like a film-star! x
ReplyDeleteThat is one beeyootiful hairstyle - how do you do it? I'm dying to have more vintage-esque hair, but mine is long and I'm too much of a wimp to cut it all off!
ReplyDeleteHow smooth is your husband? What a lovely thing to say, all together now, aaaahhhhhh! x
Oh your hair looks so pretty! Totally understand about a little change that makes you feel like yourself, funny isn't it! Top marks for hubby too!
ReplyDeleteAhh thanks for all your lovely comments :-)
ReplyDeleteThe hair is really simple, I make two french plaits and then twist them up and pin the ends first then spread the plaits over the ends to hide them.
Kristina- I love that a shampoo like that actually exists!
I had no idea you dyed your hair! I've been thinking about going red this year, and I totally forgot that you can mix and match the hennas in Lush - last time I tried one it came out a bit orange! I hear Ray's gone red, too! But since I only see you guys once in a while I won't feel like too much of a copy-cat :)
