Birthday Party!

On Sunday we celebrated Florence's first birthday with a party held in a local church hall. Poor Flo spent the majority of the morning sleeping in her cot whilst the husband and I and our band of merry helpers ran around undertaking party preparations. This being our first party and having grown up in the 80s we stuck to what we knew best: triangle sandwiches, cheese and pineapple hedgehogs, cocktail sausages and most importantly a cake decorated a la the classic book Australian Women's Weekly Birthday Cakes (did any one else choose their birthday cake from that book?!)

Decorations were crepe paper heavy with a smattering of my wedding bunting; floral tablecloths on tressle tables and food displayed in cut glass bowls. We enjoyed exquisite lemon and vanilla woodland themed cupcakes from Cupcakes by Bethan and danced to Florence's favourite music: Django Reinhardt, Journey and In The Night Garden. The boys entertained themselves with a mighty tournament of Tray Jousting but I have no idea who won!

The afternoon sped by. I felt like I had barely any time to talk to our guests. Flo, having been poorly for the whole week leading up to her birthday was the most excellent hostess. She smiled, waved and had cuddles with the majority of her guests. Although she was chasing around a certain 18 month old boy for a large part of the day too!

And of course a massive thank you to Flo's Godfather,  Mr Seeds and Stitches for letting me use all of his photos, as I was too busy to take a single one!
